Get Firefox

The next version of Firebird is out, and perhaps the biggest change is the name. That's right, from here on out, Firebird, previously known as Phoenix, will now be known as Firefox, due to another open source app with the same name. Among the new features is a Windows installer, updated bookmark dialog, a download manager, the ability to work offline and various bug fixes. It also has a new default theme for Mac OS X, giving it the look and feel of a native Mac OS X interface. Download Firefox 0.8 - you won't regret it.

Beware, mozilla's server seems to be swamped at the time of this entry, so you must have patience... It is worth the wait.

I've always had the ability to work offline and it's looking good that now we have reached 0.8, shouldn't be too long until 1.x is released.

I'd recommend saving that Mozilla image above to your own directory - looks like Mozilla's servers are maxed out and the image is taking ages to load - also good etiquette to not nick their bandwidth ;)

BTW I like the look of your site. Nice and clean looking!

Apparently Mozilla doesn't mind linking to the images on thier site, as they've set this up. To speed up it's display time, I did just move it to my server, so it should be good now. :)

is it worth downloading. Any bug fixes. Lol try the one you have never seen with the drop down menus opening over an iframe or scrolling div.... That one was annoying.

You made a little typo :p it was not 'Pheonix' but 'Phoenix'. Otherwise, FireFox is bless, and it's new logo is great.

BTW, there's a lot of official mirrors, all are not yet up to date, but you'll find FireFox aftre few hits.

Thanks for catching the typo - I need to start proof-reading better, I think. ;) Anyway, it's all fixed up.

I agree about the logo/branding. John Hicks did an awesome job. For those interested, you can read what he had to say about it here.

I just downloaded it today. I am downloading as many browsers I can think of for testing a new site I am working on. I will say this: Firefox is my new default.

refer to it as firefly, not firefox. Firefox sounds like a dumb name. I say FireFly is much manlier. So if we all call it FireFly maybe it will catch on. Lol...

Peo, it's "TBDBOTPBL"!
Anyhoo, I don't see that much that differs it from Firebird... I'm still using good ol' Firebird. I have it set up the way I like!
